MA Program of China-Africa 1+1 Cooperation in Agriculture (Hainan Program) set up in 2020. It is based on the international students program in rural and development management from 2008. The China-Africa 1+1 cooperation program is one of the international programs which combines Chinese development experience with international agricultural and rural development practice to train high-level talents in global agricultural governance and rural development management. The program aims to train students in the field of development and management research in African continent.
The program recruits international students from Africa to study in China for two years. It adopts the “1+1” talent training model. The first year is arranged to be spent at Beijing campus and Sanya campus, CAU. Ideally, second year would be in African experiential stations, students will be awarded master degree in the final year.
The main courses include three parts: Theoretical courses (including Public Policy and Analysis, Public Administration, Public Administration Research Methods, Advanced Development Studies, Global Agriculture, Development Models of Countries, Development Project Management, etc.), Practices (Professional Practice, Academic Seminars, etc.), and Dissertation.
The program is provided by full scholarship, including tuition fee, accommodation fee, living allowance and insurance. The first group of students comes from Tanzania, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Uganda, Rwanda, etc. A total of 19 students have been admitted and will be expected to start their study in China from September this year.
